Jasprit Bumrah made a return to training on Saturday, as Team India's preparations for the Edgbaston Test match heavily emphasized bowling drills. This marks the second day of training for the squad in Birmingham.

Following his absence from Friday's opening session, Bumrah's presence at the nets has sparked interest and anticipation. Doubts remain regarding his participation in the second Test against England.

After suffering a five-wicket defeat at Headingley, India is currently trailing 0-1 in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. The team commenced preparations on Friday, with the entire squad attending practice. However, Bumrah and fellow pacer Prasidh Krishna refrained from actively participating in the drills, leading to speculation concerning their readiness for the Birmingham Test.

Saturday brought a welcome boost to India's pace options. Bumrah, Prasidh, and Mohammed Siraj all engaged in bowling practice at the nets. Siraj also continued the batting practice he started on Day 1. Their return to bowling infused renewed intensity into India's preparations as the team aims to rebound strongly in Birmingham.

Among the batters, Sai Sudharsan, who debuted in the Headingley Test, was the first to practice in the nets on Day 2. Notably absent from Saturday's training session were captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. All four had participated extensively in Friday's session, with Gill and Pant spending extended periods in the nets.

While Bumrah's return is undoubtedly a positive development, his inclusion in the Edgbaston XI remains uncertain. The 31-year-old bowled 44 overs in the series opener. As part of workload management, he is slated to feature in only three of the five Tests. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, following the Headingley loss, stressed that the decision regarding Bumrah’s participation would be made on a match-to-match basis, regardless of the series score.

With bowling now taking center stage in India's practice sessions, the team hopes its key players will be ready for battle as they pursue a series-leveling victory at Edgbaston.
